Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli.

Much like Synesthesia (I have this as well), I'm interested to find out if any of you have experienced this before. A lot of binaural recordings on youtube do it for me. Tingleheads, make yourself known, old or new.
I've never experienced this before, but it sounds pretty interesting. Would you mind giving an example of a youtube recording that does this for you?
This one is great. She's my favourite ASMR artist that I've found so far. Enjoy:

To anyone clicking the link abuv, sit back, relax, and let the video take you off to dreamland, or where ever lovely place you end up.
I can't say much about this video, other than it's perhaps one of the less seductive ones. I'm really into this form of recording - binaural recording. It allows one to make surround sound without a surround sound sy system. Really works best with headphones. Given how this world is progressing, doing much more with headphones, I'm surprised binaural recording isn't used more. I myself hope to use it on one of my own audio theatre pieces. I haven't yet only because I don't have binaural microphones.
Its funny you mencion the seductiveness, or lack there of about the video. As far as I'm aware, the ASMR comunity rejects most, if not all ideas of the content being intentionally erotic or sexual. There are definitly strong loving (non-romantic) aspects to a lot of people's videos, as some are celibrations of all the love and happyness they've welcomed and acumalated into their lives. Love and care that they want to share with the rest of the world.
You're right about the use of binaural microphones being neglected though. As far as binaural music goes, I still think it is in it's primative stages, where its still marvaling at the new freedom it has in spase. I've yet to hear a piece of binaural music that used the 3d affect artistically or in a way to convey a message.
I looked at a number of these videos when I was researching binaural recording for audio theatre, which is what I'm wanting to try out. And most of them did have a seductive note to them. It could just be I was reading into it. maybe it was just soft and loving. Either way, some of those ladies were made up quite ... prettily.
Ah. Do you have enough sight to apreciate that side of things?
For what it's worth, I do.
I would be very avoiding of self diagnosis but I'm pretty sure I've felt that
feeling before.
Hello, I've had that kind of experience a few times. Didn't think there was even a name for it. I will look in to it.
So great that I may have found a few new apreciators. *Smiles*
